Ortunç’s story began in 1960, when founder Orhan Tunç discovered this quiet cove during a trip to Ayvalık. Surrounded by pine forests and defined by its honest simplicity, this untouched bay sparked a lifelong dream — to protect its character and offer it as a refuge for those in search of nature's quiet embrace.
In 1980, Orhan Tunç and his wife Necla Tunç — both artists with the State Opera and Ballet — opened Ortunç to guests. Their vision of a life in harmony with nature, combined with a thoughtful approach to hospitality, soon shaped Ortunç into a destination where time moves at its own pace, and where stillness and elegance meet.
Today, under the careful eye of the second generation, Onur Tunç continues to honor the family’s philosophy of “being a guest of nature.” With its Blue Flag beach, gentle waters, and the distinct Aegean light that colors every sunset, Ortunç offers more than a place to stay — it’s a place to feel, reflect, and remember.
With a kitchen inspired by timeless flavors from the land and sea, a quiet sense of care in every detail, and a deep-rooted commitment to sustainability, Ortunç remains a tranquil retreat for those who choose to live in harmony with nature.

Orhan Tunç filled his 87 years with a story he built with heart, mind, and unwavering devotion. With a deep love for Cunda, he created a haven on this island — always asking, “How can I add presence where there is absence?”
Though we now say goodbye, the values he left behind will keep his spirit alive at Ortunç.
Farewell to Necla’s beloved, the cherished father of Onur and Özay, and Sofi’s dearest grandfather.
We will miss you deeply.
